What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial
arts form that emphasizes ground fighting and grappling,
utilizing a system of strikes, sweeps, throws,
chokeholds and locks. In a match, a fighter will achieve
success by gaining and maintaining advantageous
positions, and bringing an opponent to submit or “tap
out.” Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers many benefits to
students. Not only does the martial arts form help build
self-confidence and discipline, but the physical
benefits reaped from regular practice are far-reaching,
including improvements in strength, speed, flexibility,
and endurance. It is also a highly effective form of
self-defense, as a main premise is that a practitioner
could force an opponent into submission, regardless of
the aggressor's size, by using leverage and positional
strategy.
The beginner’s course at Belmar’s
Martial Arts & Fitness will familiarize you with the
foundations of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, regardless of
whether you have practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or other
martial arts forms in the past.
At Belmars we
offer you the opportunity to learn the art
of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with our Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu for beginners course.
